CELEBRATING: Dr. David Charash

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. David Charash has been named Beneath the Sea Diver of the Year 2025 for Science! This well-deserved recognition celebrates his remarkable and lasting contributions to the diving community. Dr. Charash will be formally honored on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Beneath the Sea Awards Reception and Banquet.

Dr. David Charash, D.O., CWS, FACEP, FUHM, has dedicated over 30 years to the field of Hyperbaric and Dive Medicine. His journey began with his training in Emergency Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Board-certified in both Emergency Medicine and Undersea/Hyperbaric Medicine, Dr. Charash is a Principal in Dive Medicine and Hyperbaric Consultants, as well as a NOAA Diving Medicine Physician. For years, he has also served as a faculty member with Wound Care Education Partners.

Dr. Charash is renowned as a dynamic and prolific educator, leading CME conferences on undersea and hyperbaric medicine, as well as wound care, across the U.S. and through livestream webinars. His dedication to teaching and advancing the field is unmatched, making him a vital figure in the undersea community.

Beyond his teaching, Dr. Charash has made an impact both nationally and internationally, presenting at lectures, symposiums, and workshops. His expertise spans Dive Medicine, Dive Safety, and Dive Technology. He currently serves as a board advisor to both the New England Aquarium and the Maritime Aquarium Dive teams. Additionally, he has volunteered as a Field Researcher with Divers Alert Network.

Dr. Charash's commitment has not gone unnoticed. In 2022, he was honored with the DAN/Rolex Diver of the Year award and was recognized by the Naval Undersea Medical Institute for his ongoing support of the Navy's Undersea Community.
